Did you hesitate at all, Dirk?
From the way things were going your plan should work.
It had to.
The universe (quite literally) depended on it. There’s no time for hesitation and no time for second guessing, you had to do this. Not just for yourself but for the others too. You had to save not only Roxy, but Jane as well. You still weren’t quite over seeing your best friend impaled right in front of you, but you tried to put that behind you and focus on the now. If this went right she would be fine and you could finally maybe, just maybe, forget it ever happened. Push it to the back of your mind like you did to a lot of other unimportant irrelevant things.
Everything was going fast right now, whirling and flying by because you needed it to be. If things went slow you would…
Fast. You need to go fast. Universe is resting on your shoulders right now.
You had already kissed Roxy’s corpse (what a first meeting) and now you needed to execute the most dangerous part of your plan. You, Dirk Strider, would have to kill yourself. Get your head cut off and sent to another area, years in the fucking past. You watched with your heart beating in your ears as the bucket seemed to dissolve around the edges for a moment, and in a small flash of light it was gone.
Just like you would be soon.
You wonder if your head will dissolve as well before it’s gone.
Jane. Roxy. Jake. Universe. Your shoulders. Right.
Grabbing the small red box you felt the ground shake underneath you from another explosion. Oddly enough it made this whole thing harder. But you couldn’t hesitate, not now. By then your heart was pounding in your ears, a fast frantic rate as if it knew this would be the last time it possibly beat, and you felt sweat go down the side of your face. No hesitation, no stalling.
With a quick and shallow breath (you were going to die of a heart attack before you even stuck the top of your head in) you brought the transporter above your head.
Well, here goes nothing.
